Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Youm-e-Ashura serves as a timeless reminder of faith, patience, sacrifice and justice, urging the nation to follow the teachings and sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
In his message marking 10th Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH, the prime minister described Ashura as one of the most significant days in Islamic history, saying it offers enduring lessons in perseverance, righteousness, selflessness and steadfastness in the face of adversity.
He said the day commemorates Allah Almighty’s support for the believers, the triumph of truth and the sacrifices made for the supremacy of justice and righteousness.
The prime minister noted that the supreme sacrifice of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and his devoted companions has given Ashura a unique and everlasting place in Islamic history.
Shehbaz Sharif said the tragedy of Karbala conveys the message that adherence to principles and values is the foundation of a dignified and civilised society. He added that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) demonstrated that sacrificing for truth, justice and human dignity is far nobler than submitting to oppression, injustice and falsehood.
