ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended all operations to Riyadh, while special facilitation counters have been established at major airports across Pakistan to assist affected passengers, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said on Sunday.
According to ARY News, a Fly Jinnah flight operating on the Lahore–Karachi–Riyadh route was cancelled. Flynas also cancelled its Karachi–Madinah and Karachi–Riyadh flights, citing technical reasons.
However, flights to Madinah and Jeddah operated by other airlines from Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Islamabad continued to operate as scheduled.
The flight disruptions follow an attack on Riyadh’s international airport on Saturday that killed at least 12 people and injured 309, according to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation. The fatalities included nationals from Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt.
US President Donald Trump said Washington was considering joining Saudi strikes against the Houthis amid escalating regional tensions linked to the war involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
