The Planning Minister said that Pakistan had suffered more than $30 billion in damages and losses in the 2022 floods but received only 600$ million in foreign assistance. He said that it was ironic that the worldwide community promised a $100bn climate-finance fund but “did not even provide $1bn.” Consequently, the government made a decision to meet the losses with domestic resources rather than “external crutches” despite the near $3bn damages to infrastructure and agriculture on top of the human lives lost during the floods.
