Pakistan Lodges Protest With BBC Urdu Over AJK Report

Jarida Report

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has lodged a formal protest and official complaint with BBC Urdu over what it described as the publication of “fake news” concerning Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In a post on X, the ministry accused the broadcaster of relying on unverified and uncorroborated allegations while failing to present the official position or verified facts.

“Unfortunately, this is not the first instance of such reporting,” the ministry said, adding that the repeated publication of unverified claims had become a trend and called for corrective measures.

Separately, the ministry and the AJK government issued detailed fact-checks rejecting a BBC Urdu report that alleged police had blocked the movement of food, medicines and fuel during the ongoing unrest in the region.

Both authorities described the report as “factually incorrect” and denied claims that roads had been closed or that restrictions had been imposed on the movement of vehicles.
