Pakistan and Kuwait on Saturday emphasised the urgent need for de-escalation in the Middle East following the latest outbreak of hostilities between the United States and Iran, urging all sides to exercise maximum restraint.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to discuss the evolving regional situation.
During the call, Sheikh Jarrah expressed Kuwait’s serious concern over the continued attacks on its territory and voiced hope that all parties would exercise restraint and that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be fully implemented.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and mediatory role in promoting dialogue and regional stability.
Dar, for his part, underscored the urgent need for de-escalation, stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, and said preserving regional peace and security must remain the foremost priority.
