Pakistan Announces Public Holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)

The federal government has declared Wednesday, August 26, 2026, a public holiday across Pakistan to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), corresponding to 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the holiday for the occasion.

The 1501st birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be commemorated across the country with religious devotion and reverence.

Preparations for the occasion are underway throughout Pakistan, with mosques, homes, streets and public buildings decorated with lights, green flags and banners.

Muslims commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Official ceremonies will begin with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad, while 21-gun salutes will be held in the provincial capitals to mark the occasion.
