Security Forces Kill 49 Militants in K-P, Balochistan Operations: ISPR

Jarida Report

Security forces and police have killed 49 militants in a series of intelligence-based operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan over the past few days, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

According to the military’s media wing, the joint operations were conducted as part of an intensified counterterrorism campaign targeting militant networks that Pakistan says are sponsored by India.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 12 militants were killed during separate operations in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber districts. Security personnel also recovered and destroyed explosives, weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and equipment used to remotely detonate improvised explosive devices.

Meanwhile, 37 militants were killed in 10 intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, covering Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur districts.

ISPR said security forces seized and destroyed a significant quantity of weapons, drums containing explosives and remote-detonation equipment during the Balochistan operations.

The military said sanitisation operations remain underway in the affected areas to locate any other militants who may be present.

ISPR reiterated that security forces and law-enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.

The military maintained that the campaign would continue against foreign-sponsored and supported militant networks in an effort to prevent attacks and restore security.
