Nvidia announced on Thursday that it is partnering with leading Japanese companies, including Fanuc and Yaskawa Electric, to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence and robotics technologies.
Speaking at a media event in Tokyo, Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang said AI would transform the robotics industry.
“With AI, robots will become smart, easily adaptable and accessible,” Huang said.
Separately, Noetra, a Japanese government-backed company backed by investors including Sony, announced plans to purchase 27,500 Nvidia Rubin AI chips as it develops physical AI technologies.
Huang’s visit has attracted significant public attention in Japan, reflecting his growing popularity across Asia. During the trip, he attended an event hosted by gaming company Sega Sammy in Tokyo’s Akihabara district and later visited a traditional izakaya restaurant, where he greeted media and bystanders.
The Nvidia chief was also photographed with senior executives from key Japanese technology firms, including the CEOs of Kioxia and Tokyo Electron, underscoring the company’s deepening ties with Japan’s semiconductor and electronics industry.
