NIPA-Hassan Square Road Closed Without Prior Notice, Motorists Face Traffic Chaos

Jarida Report

KARACHI: The road connecting NIPA Bridge to Hassan Square has been closed without prior notice, leaving motorists confused and causing traffic disruptions in the area, ARY News reported.

The NIPA overhead bridge ends near the Federal Urdu University, where barricades have been installed to block the road. However, no advance warning signs were placed at the start of the bridge or near the barricades to alert motorists about the closure.

The administration also failed to provide information about alternative routes, leaving motorists to discover the closure only after reaching the Federal Urdu University.

The situation was further aggravated by the absence of traffic police personnel to guide motorists or divert traffic towards alternate routes.

As a result, commuters were forced to find alternative routes themselves to reach Hassan Square.

Meanwhile, the road from NIPA towards Sector 13-D has already remained closed for several months, adding to difficulties for motorists in the area.

The development comes despite a circular issued by TransKarachi, the company overseeing construction of the BRT Red Line, stating that the road was scheduled to reopen on September 15.
