The death toll from Friday’s suicide attack on a police compound in northwestern Pakistan has risen to 31, AFP reported on Saturday, citing a police official.
The attack took place when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the police facility in Kohat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, while police officers and members of their families were offering prayers at a mosque inside the compound.
Officials had initially reported a lower number of casualties following the blast, with the confirmed death toll subsequently rising to 31.
The attack struck the police facility during prayers, resulting in casualties among officers and their family members.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the attack and the circumstances surrounding the bombing.
