Netflix Expands Into Short-Form Video With Major Publisher Deals

Netflix is expanding its short-form video offerings after signing licensing agreements with several major US media publishers, marking its latest move into a space dominated by TikTok and YouTube.

The streaming platform has partnered with publishers including Penske Media, BuzzFeed Studios, Condé Nast, Hearst Magazines and People Inc. to bring a range of news, lifestyle, entertainment and how-to videos to its subscribers.

The content, which will range from two-minute clips to programmes lasting more than 20 minutes, is scheduled to launch on August 3 in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

The agreements will add content from brands such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, Rolling Stone, Bon Appétit, People and Variety. Featured series include Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector, BuzzFeed’s 30 Questions, and Variety’s Know Their Lines?
