KARACHI: Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted submarine, PNS M Hangor, has successfully conducted its maiden live weapon firing in the North Arabian Sea, demonstrating its operational readiness and combat capabilities.
During the exercise, PNS M Hangor launched an anti-ship cruise missile designed for precision engagement at extended ranges and successfully struck the designated target.
The firing validated the submarine’s weapon systems, operational readiness and combat effectiveness, according to the Pakistan Navy.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the live weapon firing at sea.
The successful exercise marks a significant milestone in the operationalisation of PNS M Hangor and highlights the Pakistan Navy’s subsurface warfare capabilities.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf appreciated the submarine’s combat capabilities and emphasised the importance of continuously strengthening subsurface warfare capabilities to maintain operational readiness and a credible deterrence posture at sea.
The Pakistan Navy said the successful firing reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a modern, combat-ready and technologically advanced force to safeguard Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and contribute to regional peace and stability.
