The second and final day of the 2026 NATO Summit began in Ankara on Wednesday, with Secretary General Mark Rutte and allied leaders outlining key priorities ahead of formal talks.
Rutte said increased defence spending had strengthened the alliance, crediting US President Donald Trump with helping narrow the defence spending gap between Europe and the United States.
He said discussions would also focus on security in the Arctic, preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
