Mir Raza Ali’s Parents Seek Direct Oversight of Murder Investigation

Jarida Report

The parents of Mir Raza Ali have called for direct oversight of the investigation into their son’s death, raising concerns about the direction of the police probe and the handling of evidence, according to a request submitted through their lawyer.

The family has appealed to the prime minister, Sindh chief minister and senior police authorities to personally monitor the investigation and ensure that all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined.

According to the request, Mir Raza’s parents allege that the newly constituted investigation team, rather than pursuing fresh evidence, has continued to focus on the possibility that their son died by suicide.

They have rejected that position, accusing the original investigation team of advancing what they describe as a false suicide narrative.

The family has also questioned why action has not been taken against police officials whom they believe were responsible for shortcomings during the initial investigation.

Their request names several officials, including DIG East Farrukh Lanjar, SSP Specialized Investigation Unit Samiullah Somroo, SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SP East Usman Sadozai.

They have also sought action against SSP Crime Scene Unit Asif Jakhrani, Ferozabad SHO Adil Afzal, SIO Shabbir Laghari, Gulistan-e-Johar SHO Kamran and Shahrah-e-Faisal DSP Arshad Afridi, among other officers.

The parents further alleged irregularities in the investigation, mishandling of evidence and deficiencies in the procedures followed after their son’s death.

They claimed that Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar, the Sindh police chief and the current investigation team had so far failed to take the action they believe is necessary against the officials concerned.

The family has urged higher authorities to intervene and ensure an impartial and comprehensive investigation, including scrutiny of the alleged investigative lapses and handling of evidence in the case.
