Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday welcomed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing it as a significant milestone that would strengthen Pakistan’s defence capabilities and contribute to regional security.
In a post on X, Bilawal said the agreement represented an important development in Pakistan’s history and would help reinforce the defence and security of the three participating countries.
He said the pact was not only important for the security and stability of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, but could also contribute to broader regional and global peace.
Bilawal praised the role of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir in facilitating the agreement, describing their contribution as commendable.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement on Friday, establishing a framework for enhanced defence cooperation, collective deterrence and regional security.
Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three countries would be considered an attack against all three, committing the signatories to a collective defence framework.
