The Gathering of Arab Tribes in Lebanon on Saturday expressed its full support for the Lebanese state following the signing of a framework agreement with Israel, while urging calm after protests by Hezbollah supporters.
In a statement, the group voiced concern over demonstrations that included road blockades, burning tyres and protests outside the government palace, warning against actions that could fuel chaos and division.
It described the events near the government palace as a cause for “deep concern and regret,” stressing that the state alone is the legitimate authority and that national disputes should be resolved through dialogue and state institutions rather than through street protests or the use of force.
The group also called on those opposing the agreement to act with wisdom and abide by the Constitution and the law, while urging the government to fulfil its responsibility to maintain security and public order.
The framework agreement was reached at the conclusion of the fifth round of US-sponsored talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington on Friday. The negotiations focused on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and arrangements for the deployment of the Lebanese Army in areas currently occupied by Israeli forces.
