The Kremlin said on Wednesday it expects contacts with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Ukraine to resume once they complete their current diplomatic engagements.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made the remarks after being asked whether alternative US representatives could be appointed to continue discussions on Ukraine while Witkoff and Kushner remain engaged in negotiations aimed at securing a peace agreement with Iran.
“We understand that contacts will continue,” Peskov said. “Naturally, they are occupied with other matters right now, but at some point they will become available, and we are counting on further work.”
Peskov also praised the two envoys for their role in the Ukraine talks, describing their approach as “highly constructive.”
“They are willing to listen to all sides—that is especially valuable right now,” he said.
