A massive lawsuit has been filed in the United Kingdom (UK) against well known Pharmaceutical mainstay Johnson & Johnson (J&J), accusing them of knowingly selling baby powder contaminated with asbestos. This Lawsuit involves 3,000 people and it alleges that J&J was aware as early as 65 years ago that their mineral-based talcum powder contained fibrous forms of talc, including but not limited to tremolite and actinolite which are both minerals. When both of those are in their fibrous form, they are then classified as asbestos, linked to possible deadly cancers.
J&J denied it and a statement was issued on behalf of the company which said the baby powder “was compliant with any required regulatory standards, did not contain asbestos, and does not cause cancer.”
