BEIRUT: Israeli airstrikes killed four people, including two women, in southern Lebanon on Sunday after Hezbollah launched drones towards Israeli troops, according to Lebanese and Israeli authorities.
Lebanon’s health ministry said two women were killed in Arab Salim, while two other people died in Nabatieh al-Fawqa. Around 20 people were wounded in attacks at several locations, including women and children.
The Israeli military said the strikes were launched in response to two Hezbollah drones directed at its soldiers. It reported no casualties among Israeli troops and accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire.
Israel issued an evacuation warning for residents near a location in Arab Salim before striking the area.
The latest deaths further underline the fragility of the ceasefire, with Israeli attacks and exchanges involving Hezbollah continuing despite the reduction in large-scale fighting.
