Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned on Wednesday that the Strait of Hormuz would not return to its pre-war status, saying no country in the region would be able to export oil if Iran was prevented from doing so.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf described the conflict as an “all or nothing” situation.
“In a region where we cannot sell oil, no one will sell oil,” he wrote.
He also warned that if Iran’s security was not guaranteed, “no infrastructure will remain secure.”
Ghalibaf said security in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz depended on the absence of US forces, adding that Iran had repeatedly stated that conditions in the waterway would not revert to those that existed before the war.
His remarks came after an Iranian military source warned that Tehran would target regional infrastructure, including energy facilities, if the United States attacked bridges or power plants inside Iran.
Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said Washington would bomb an Iranian bridge or power plant every time Tehran attacked a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions between the two countries.
