Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on Thursday that any British military base used by the United States to launch attacks against Iran would become a “legitimate target,” accusing the United Kingdom of playing a major role in recent US and Israeli military operations.
In a statement, the IRGC claimed the United States had recently used B-1 bombers operating from RAF Fairford in England after US warships in the Indian Ocean depleted their stocks of cruise missiles.
“Any base used for aggression against Iranian territory is a legitimate target for us,” the IRGC said.
The force also warned Britain against what it described as further involvement in the conflict, accusing London of being “a principal architect of instability” in the Middle East and alleging it had played a significant role in recent US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
The IRGC reiterated its earlier claim that it had struck a US electronic warfare unit at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, damaging the facility’s air traffic control tower.
It also accused Washington of using calls for renewed negotiations to buy time to rebuild its military capabilities before launching further attacks, saying Tehran would not allow the United States to benefit from what it described as “deceptive ceasefires.”
Separately, Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned Britain’s decision to allow the United States to use British military bases and facilities for strikes against Iran, warning that any country assisting military action against Tehran would bear responsibility for the consequences.
The ministry said Britain’s decision to provide military bases and logistical support for what it described as illegal US attacks violated the UN Charter and international law.
