Iran on Sunday called on the United States to establish a timetable for Israel’s unconditional withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory under the war-ending memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington.
Speaking at a weekly news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Bagaei said ending Israel’s military operations in Lebanon and ensuring the withdrawal of its forces from all occupied Lebanese territories were essential conditions for achieving a lasting regional settlement.
“Ending the war and military operations of the Zionist regime against Lebanon, as well as the withdrawal of occupiers from all occupied Lebanese territories, is a necessary condition for reaching a final and sustainable agreement to establish stability in the region,” Bagaei said, according to the ISNA News Agency.
He added that Iran considers the protection of Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security and dignity of the Lebanese people to be fundamental to the durability of any agreement aimed at ending the conflict.
