Iran Says It Targeted US Sites in Gulf After American Strikes

Jarida Report

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday it had struck US sites in the Gulf in retaliation for American attacks on Iranian missile, drone and radar facilities, further raising tensions despite a fragile ceasefire.

The US strikes were launched after Washington accused Iran of carrying out a drone attack on a commercial cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the incident as an act of aggression against international shipping.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attacks targeted Iranian missile and drone storage sites, as well as coastal radar positions, in response to what it called Iran’s “unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping” and a clear violation of the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported that an explosion was heard late Friday at Taheroui Pier in the southern port city of Sirik.

Citing an informed military source, the broadcaster said the blast was caused by the impact of a projectile, but provided no further details.
