Actor Muneeb Butt has been cleared of wrongdoing by investigators in a kidnapping and cryptocurrency robbery case currently being heard by an anti-terrorism court in Karachi.
Butt appeared before the court alongside the other accused during the latest hearing, which was later adjourned. The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) had submitted the case challan during the previous hearing.
According to the investigation report, police found no sufficient evidence linking Butt to the alleged crime and declared him innocent. The court is expected to examine the police findings along with other evidence as proceedings continue.
The case centres on allegations that the complainant was kidnapped and robbed of cryptocurrency reportedly worth 2.494 million, although the currency in which the amount was calculated has not been specified.
Investigators said Butt had been accused of arranging accommodation in Murree for the suspects allegedly involved in the incident. However, the challan concluded that there was insufficient evidence to establish his involvement.
Meanwhile, police officer Ghalib, who is also accused in the case, remains absconding.
