Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged abduction and assault of Asma Amanullah in Quetta’s Kachi Baig area, recovering weapons and a vehicle allegedly used in the incident.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Zia-ul-Haq Mandokhail.
Police said the case was registered at Kachi Baig Police Station on August 14 as FIR No. 161/2026 under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code, following a complaint filed by Asma’s mother, Shazia. Sub-Inspector Mehboob Ali was assigned the investigation.
Speaking at a press conference, Asma alleged that her former fiancé, Khuda Bakhsh, and her cousins Muhammad Rafiq, Javed and Siraj abducted her from her home on August 13 after she refused a marriage proposal.
She alleged that the men entered her residence, assaulted her and took Rs65,000 in cash before forcing her to accompany them.
According to Asma, she was taken to the residence of a railway official, where she was allegedly subjected to further violence.
She said the suspects then summoned a Nikah Khawan in an attempt to arrange a marriage, but he refused to solemnise the Nikah after she made clear that she did not consent.
Asma alleged that she was subsequently assaulted again and forced into a vehicle. She said she eventually jumped from the moving vehicle near a police checkpoint and raised an alarm.
Frontier Corps personnel stationed nearby responded and rescued her, according to her account.
Police have since arrested the four suspects and recovered weapons and the vehicle allegedly used in the crime, while further investigation into the case continues.
