Child specialist Dr Suhail Malik was found dead with bullet wounds inside his room in Balochistan’s Usta Muhammad district, police said on Thursday.
Police took the body into custody and shifted it to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Usta Muhammad for medico-legal formalities.
Dr Malik was reportedly a well-known child specialist in the area.
According to police officials, the doctor had sustained two bullet wounds. Residents reportedly heard three to four gunshots coming from the room where the incident took place.
Police have detained Dr Malik’s wife for questioning as part of the investigation.
Officials said investigators are examining the available evidence and are also looking into the possibility of murder.
District Police Officer (DPO) Usta Muhammad Muaaz-ur-Rehman said police were investigating all aspects of the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s death.
