A new rotation of US troops is on its way to Lithuania, President Gitanas Nauseda announced on Tuesday, reaffirming the continued American military presence in the Baltic country.
“I have just received confirmation that the new rotation of U.S. troops is already on its way to Lithuania!” Nauseda said in a post on X.
The Lithuanian president thanked US President Donald Trump and his administration for the decision, saying the deployment was significant for both Lithuania and the security of the wider region.
“The U.S. military presence in Lithuania is an indispensable part of our deterrence and collective defense,” Nauseda said.
More than 1,000 US troops stationed in Lithuania began departing in early June after completing their rotation.
Lithuanian officials had previously said they expected another US unit to replace the departing personnel. However, the timing and size of the incoming deployment had remained uncertain as Washington reviewed its military presence in Europe.
Nauseda’s announcement confirms that the next rotation is now heading to Lithuania, although he did not provide details about the number of troops involved or their arrival date.
