Umaima Shakir studies psychology, though most of what she's actually curious about lives off the syllabus — in the stories people inherit without asking, rewrite without noticing, or quietly decide to believe anyway. Her essays move between psychology, literature, and lived experience, circling identity, ethics, and the ordinary contradictions of being a person around other people. She has yet to find an answer she trusted more than the question that produced it.
