At Least 15 Injured in Fire at Indian Oil Refinery

At least 15 people were injured after a naphtha pipeline caught fire at the Haldia Refinery in India’s eastern state of West Bengal on Tuesday.

According to local broadcaster NDTV, the blaze erupted between 4:00am and 5:00am local time in a pipeline carrying naphtha, a highly flammable liquid fuel. Thick black smoke was seen billowing from the refinery following the incident.

The intense fire left several workers with burn injuries, the report said.

Authorities have launched an investigation, but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
