Punjab Police Repel Terrorist Attack on DG Khan Checkpoint, Kill Three Assailants

On March 29, 2025, Punjab Police successfully repelled a terrorist attack on the Lakhani checkpoint in Dera Ghazi Khan. A group of 20-25 terrorists assaulted the checkpoint, but the police’s prompt and courageous response ensured the safety of all personnel. 

During the confrontation, one terrorist was killed, and several others were injured. Subsequent search operations, conducted jointly by Punjab Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department, led to the elimination of two additional terrorists. Evidence of blood trails and abandoned belongings indicated that the remaining assailants fled the scene. 

Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar praised the officers for their bravery, stating that the provincial police serve as a formidable barrier against threats to national security. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the police force for their professional handling of the situation, highlighting their decisive action in thwarting the terrorists’ plans. 

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in Pakistan’s border regions and their unwavering commitment to maintaining national security.
