Balochistan Govt Open to Opposition-Led Talks to Curb Terrorism

Jarida Report

In response to escalating insurgent activities in Balochistan, provincial government officials have reiterated their openness to dialogue as a means to address terrorism. During a press conference in Quetta, spokesperson Shahid Rind and ministers Mir Shoaib Nosherwani and Zahoor Ahmed Buledi emphasized the importance of unconventional strategies, including intelligence input and public support, to combat the recent “wave of terrorism” in the region.

Minister Nosherwani acknowledged longstanding issues such as poor governance and corruption that contribute to unrest, expressing the government’s commitment to improving governance and eliminating corruption. He highlighted that while previous budgetary measures aimed to provide relief to the people of Balochistan, terrorist activities have often disrupted these efforts.

Spokesperson Rind underscored the government’s clear stance on anti-terrorism and counter-insurgency, noting that the Chief Minister has consistently extended invitations for dialogue to both elected and non-elected representatives. He emphasized that even opposition members could be granted the mandate to initiate negotiations, reflecting the administration’s commitment to inclusive dialogue as a pathway to peace.
