One Killed, One Injured as Landslides Hit Gilgit-Baltistan Amid Heavy Rain

On March 27, 2025, heavy rainfall triggered landslides near Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, resulting in one fatality and one injury. The landslides blocked the Astore-Dashkan road for 24 hours and severed the land connection between Astore district and Gilgit. Additionally, a landslide in Upper Kohistan’s Achar Nallah area disrupted the route between Gilgit-Baltistan and Rawalpindi. Authorities have advised travelers to remain in hotels and avoid travel due to ongoing risks, as the Meteorological Department forecasts continued snowfall and rain over the next two days.
