KHAIRPUR: Police have arrested a man accused of selling his 12-year-old daughter for Rs300,000 and arranging her marriage in Khairpur, according to ARY News, citing police on Monday.
The incident reportedly took place in Chhoti Mari village, where police launched an investigation after receiving reports that a minor girl had allegedly been sold and married in exchange for money.
Police arrested the girl’s father, Abdul Karim, on the orders of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
A case has been registered against him at Tando Masti Police Station over the alleged sale of his underage daughter and the arrangement of her marriage for money.
According to police, the girl was due to be presented before a court on Monday. Further legal proceedings are expected to follow.
