LAHORE: Journalist and former television anchor Iqrar-ul-Hassan was reportedly taken into custody during a late-night raid at his residence in Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in the early hours of Monday, October 12.
His wife, Farah Iqrar, claimed that the operation took place at around 2:40 a.m. She alleged that those who entered the house confiscated mobile phones and took her husband away without informing the family where he was being taken.
Farah also alleged that family members and household staff were mistreated during the operation. She expressed concern for her husband’s safety and called for his immediate release.
The circumstances surrounding the reported detention remain unclear. Social media claims have suggested a possible link to Iqrar-ul-Hassan’s online activity and political involvement with the Awam Raj Party, but the grounds for his reported arrest have not been independently established.
Iqrar-ul-Hassan resigned from ARY News in April 2026 to pursue his political ambitions. As of the report, details regarding his legal status and the agency responsible for the operation had not been officially confirmed.
