Yandex Shuts Down Vladimir Data Centre After Drone Attack

Jarida Report

MOSCOW: Russian technology and artificial intelligence company Yandex said on Sunday that a drone attack damaged its infrastructure and forced the complete shutdown of its data centre in the Vladimir region.

The company said no one was injured, but some of its services had become unavailable to users following the incident.

The shutdown marks the third major disruption to Yandex data centres in recent days. On Friday, the company reported that a Ukrainian drone attack had struck its facility in the Kaluga region, southwest of Moscow, partially disrupting operations.

A day earlier, a Ukrainian attack had forced the shutdown of Yandex’s data hub in Sasovo, southeast of Moscow. The facility houses two of the three supercomputers used to develop the company’s artificial intelligence model.

Yandex is a major Russian technology company with significant involvement in the country’s AI development.
