Imran Khan Alleges ‘Severe Injustice’ in Detention, PTI Plans Court Action

Jarida Report

PTI founder Imran Khan has complained of “severe injustice and torture” during his detention, according to his sister Dr Uzma Khan, while the party says it plans to approach the courts over the handling of his medical treatment.

Speaking at a press conference at Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad on Friday, Dr Uzma said Imran raised concerns about his treatment in custody when she met him at PIMS Hospital.

According to Dr Uzma, Imran told her he had been subjected to unfair treatment for the past 10 months and asked her to make his concerns public.

Despite those complaints, she said her brother appeared physically well during their meeting. His blood pressure was recorded at 120/80, and she described him as “completely fit.”

Dr Uzma said doctors examined Imran, checked his blood pressure and asked about the eye drops he had been using before informing him that he required an injection in his eye.

Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said PTI would file a contempt petition over what the party considers a failure to implement the Supreme Court’s directions concerning Imran’s medical care.

The Supreme Court had ordered on Tuesday that the former prime minister be transferred to Shifa International Hospital for treatment for several days and that weekly meetings with his family be facilitated.

However, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Imran was instead taken to PIMS, where he underwent a medical examination before being returned to Adiala Jail.
