Thailand School Shooting Death Toll Rises to Seven

Jarida Report

The death toll from Thursday’s school shooting in Thailand’s Nonthaburi province has risen to seven, according to local media reports, although authorities have yet to officially confirm the revised figure.

The shooting occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, where police identified the suspected gunman as a student at the institution.

According to reports, the attack began at around 10:12 a.m. local time on the sixth floor of Building 5. The suspected shooter is believed to have taken his own life after carrying out the attack.

Teachers immediately evacuated students and staff from the campus as emergency responders rushed to the scene.

Investigators reportedly recovered dozens of rounds of ammunition from a bag belonging to the suspected attacker.

Authorities also discovered the bodies of the suspect’s grandparents at their home, with preliminary reports suggesting they were killed before the school shooting.

Police have secured the campus and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.

The Poh Teck Tung Foundation, a Bangkok-based rescue organisation, said injured students were transported to nearby hospitals and urged motorists to keep surrounding roads clear to allow emergency vehicles unhindered access.

Nonthaburi province, located just northwest of Bangkok, forms part of the capital’s metropolitan region.
