Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho on Thursday said investigators had solved the death case of young entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali, adding that a detailed briefing would be held soon to present the findings.
Speaking during a visit to the Karachi Bar Association, the police chief said investigators had carried out an extensive inquiry and rejected allegations of negligence during the investigation.
“The entire case has been traced,” Odho said, adding that Karachi Police would soon hold a press conference to share the evidence and conclusions of the probe.
He acknowledged that conflicting claims had created uncertainty around the case, noting that comments made by a medico-legal officer who was not directly involved differed from the findings contained in the official post-mortem report.
Addressing concerns over the autopsy, Odho said police had no objection to the formation of a medical board if required, adding that any further investigation would proceed in line with the board’s findings.
Meanwhile, a judicial magistrate in Karachi approved a request to exhume Mir Raza Ali’s body for a fresh post-mortem examination after his father challenged both the police investigation and the initial autopsy report.
In a written order, the court directed the Secretary of Health to constitute a medical board to supervise the exhumation and ensure the procedure is carried out in accordance with legal requirements.
