Pakistan Has Sufficient Petrol Stocks, NCMC Says Amid Hoarding Concerns

Jarida Report

Pakistan has adequate petrol reserves to meet current demand, officials told a meeting of the National Coordination and Management Council (NCMC) during a review of the country’s fuel supply situation.

The meeting was informed that existing stocks of petroleum products are sufficient to ensure uninterrupted supplies across the country.

Officials said representatives of the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) also briefed the forum and addressed concerns over possible supply disruptions.

According to the briefing, an unusually sharp increase in petrol sales during the first half of July raised concerns about market activity.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) told the meeting that the surge may have been driven by hoarding, amid expectations of a possible increase in fuel prices.

The NCMC directed OGRA to strengthen enforcement against hoarding and instructed provincial governments to take action to prevent the practice.

The council also ordered the relevant authorities to ensure the uninterrupted supply and continuous availability of petroleum products for consumers nationwide.
