Court Extends Remand of Suspects in Foreign Women Assault Case

Jarida Report

A judicial magistrate on Thursday granted police a further four-day physical remand of three suspects accused in the alleged abduction and rape of two foreign women, allowing investigators more time to recover weapons and other evidence.

Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood issued the order after Defence-C Police produced suspects Rizwan, Nawaz and Nasir before the court upon the expiry of their previous five-day remand.

During the hearing, the court asked the prosecution about the progress made during the earlier remand period.

The state prosecutor informed the court that weapons had been recovered from suspects Rizwan and Nasir, while the investigating officer said the weapon allegedly used by Nawaz had yet to be recovered.

Police also told the court they were still attempting to recover cash, jewellery and a wristwatch allegedly linked to the case and sought additional custody to complete the investigation.

After hearing the arguments, the court approved the request and handed the three suspects back to police on a four-day physical remand.

The suspects are facing charges in connection with the alleged abduction and rape of two foreign women.
