Jarida Report

Pakistan and Iran on Wednesday agreed to strengthen cooperation in security, counterterrorism, cybersecurity and immigration during talks between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni in Islamabad.

The meeting followed the arrival of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Pakistan on Tuesday, accompanied by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Momeni. During the visit, the Iranian delegation held separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, the two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the regional situation following the recent peace agreement.

The statement said Momeni thanked Pakistan for the warm hospitality extended to President Pezeshkian and the Iranian delegation during the visit.

The two sides also agreed to deepen collaboration in key areas, including security, counterterrorism, cybersecurity and immigration.

“I will soon undertake a detailed visit to Pakistan, aimed at further advancing cooperation between the interior ministries of the two countries,” Momeni said.
