South Korea said on Tuesday it is prepared to accept all North Korean prisoners of war captured by Ukraine while fighting for Russia if they choose to resettle in the South.
Seoul’s foreign ministry said it opposes the forced repatriation of North Korean prisoners to either Russia or North Korea against their wishes, reaffirming its commitment to respecting their individual decisions.
The announcement comes ahead of talks between South Korean and Ukrainian ministers, scheduled to take place in Seoul on June 30, where the issue is expected to be discussed.
