Inspired by Lamine Yamal, Spain national football team bounced back from a disappointing World Cup opener with a commanding 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia national football team in Group H on Sunday.
Yamal put Spain ahead in the 10th minute before Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice in quick succession to all but seal the result before halftime. An own goal early in the second half completed the scoring as Spain comfortably saw out the match.
The emphatic win marked a sharp improvement from Spain’s goalless draw against Cape Verde in their opening fixture.
“Every match is different even if the game plan is similar,” Spain coach Luis de la Fuente said.
“We analysed the previous match, and we all agreed that we needed more verticality to play deeper, and we saw this, and from minute one we were trying to suffocate the opponent.”
