PM Revises Statement on US-Iran Agreement as Iran Confirms Digital Signing

Jarida Report

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revised his earlier post on X announcing the landmark agreement between the United States and Iran, removing references to a forthcoming official signing ceremony.

The original post had stated that the presidents of the two countries had signed a historic memorandum of understanding and that a formal ceremony would take place later. The updated version omits any mention of a future signing, prompting questions over the finalisation process.

Clarifying the development, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the memorandum had been signed electronically, making a physical ceremony in Switzerland unnecessary.

He added that negotiating teams from both countries are nevertheless expected to meet in Geneva on Friday to continue discussions on the next phase of the agreement.
