Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the people of Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah on the beginning of the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijri, expressing hope that the year will bring peace, prosperity and stability across the world.
In a message issued on the arrival of Muharram, the prime minister prayed that the new Hijri year would promote peace, tolerance, harmony, peaceful coexistence and the protection of human life for all humanity.
Sharif also welcomed what he described as the positive development of the new Islamic year beginning with news of a peaceful resolution to the dispute between Iran and the United States.
He said Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace were a matter of national pride, adding that dialogue, mutual understanding and peaceful diplomacy reflect the true spirit of Islam and the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
