The American media, including ‘The Washington Times’ and ‘The New York Times’, have written that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) has played the role of key mediator in the Iran-US negotiations.
According to the American newspapers, Field Marshal Asim Munir held continuous meetings with the leaders of the United States and Iran to finalise the draft of the Iran-US agreement. ‘The New York Times’ also wrote that Pakistan’s Field Marshal played a key role in the progress of reconciliation between Iran and the United States.
The newspaper described Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent visit to Iran as high-level diplomacy. It said Field Marshal Asim Munir played an important role in reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. The newspaper has said that he has emerged as a key mediator in efforts to bridge differences between the two countries.
