The Islamabad Police on Tuesday prevented K-P Chief Minister Sohail Afridi from proceeding to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where he intended to meet imprisoned PTI founding chairman Imran Khan.
Afridi, who set off for the Rawalpindi prison earlier in the day, was accompanied by Imran’s sisters and several PTI workers and leaders. However, police stopped the delegation at Chungi No. 26 in Islamabad from proceeding towards Adiala Jail, despite heated arguments, following which the party leaders staged a sit-in.
Meanwhile, several PTI leaders, including Salman Akram Raja, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Bushra Bibi’s daughters, reached Adiala Jail but were not permitted to meet Imran. It is pertinent to note that the visiting hours for Imran Khan ended at 4 pm.
Later, the PTI ended its hours-long sit-in at Chungi No. 26 late Tuesday night.
