Punjab CM’s Remarks Draw Ire as Opposition Accuses Her of Supporting Modi

Jarida Report

Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar has strongly criticized Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for her recent statement comparing the damage caused by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to that inflicted by the Indian attacks on May 6 and 7. Bhachar labeled her remarks as a violation of national sovereignty and accused her of expressing solidarity with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further alleged that Maryam’s comments disregarded the sacrifices of innocent civilians and military personnel who lost their lives during the Indian aggression. In response, Bhachar submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly, co-signed by several PTI members, demanding the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incidents and calling for accountability for those responsible for stealing CCTV cameras. He also urged the Chief Minister to apologize to the nation, asserting that her statements were tantamount to treason. Bhachar emphasized that despite challenges, the PTI remains the largest party in the National Assembly and holds over 100 seats in the Punjab Assembly.
