Pakistan Submits National Olive Value Chain Policy for Cabinet Approval

Jarida Report

Pakistan’s federal cabinet is reviewing the National Olive Value Chain Policy, a seven-year plan aimed at transforming the country into a competitive player in the global olive industry. Developed by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, the policy seeks to boost olive production, enhance processing quality, attract private investment, and promote domestic consumption. It also includes a proposed one-year extension of the PSDP olive project with a Rs637 million allocation to sustain ongoing initiatives like drip irrigation, wild olive grafting, and stakeholder training. Currently, approximately 5.5 million olive trees have been planted, primarily in Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
