Aleema Khanum and Kanwal Shauzab Clash in Court Over Leaked Video Amid Ongoing Political Tensions

Jarida Report

On May 17, 2025, a tense exchange occurred between Aleema Khanum, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, and former PTI MNA Kanwal Shauzab at the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court. The confrontation was sparked by a recently surfaced video in which Shauzab allegedly criticized Aleema for disrespecting party officials and interim chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, suggesting that Aleema’s actions were detrimental to the party. In court, Shauzab approached Aleema to discuss the matter, but Aleema dismissed the attempt, stating she was accustomed to such accusations and was not angry with Shauzab. Shauzab contended that the video was an old clip taken out of context, but Aleema ended the conversation and walked away.

In a related development, the court denied Aleema’s request to be exempted from court appearances to facilitate travel abroad. Aleema expressed frustration over multiple cases filed against her, alleging they were intended to hinder her international travel. She claimed that these cases were a response to her efforts in conveying her brother’s messages to the public. Earlier in the week, the Islamabad High Court had ordered the removal of her name from the Provisional National Immigration List and Passport Control List, allowing her to seek travel permission from the relevant trial court.
